Joanna Dougherty, LCSW (she/her)

Through individual therapy, I help clients face the challenges of life -- to not only get through them, but to come out the other side thriving. Whether that challenge is a loss, a transition or feeling stuck in a past trauma or experience.

I believe in embracing our humanness and moving away from the "shoulds."Working together, we will bring awareness to patterns of coping and to begin to change how you relate to different parts of yourself.

I use a number of modalities to help support clients dealing with trauma, healing from childhood experiences or wanting to improve their mental health including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory and Developmental Relational Trauma Therapy.

I also have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Based Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, The Nurtured Heart Approach and Mindfulness.

As a trauma therapist, I find it is important that you feel safe and supported as you process your experiences, so we will spend the first sessions building rapport and ensuring safety to begin the clinical work.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Colorado and am a graduate of Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Service and Social Policy.

I also supervise social workers toward their LCSW and other clinicians who are looking to grow and expand their practice.

The truth is that life is delicious, horrible, charming, frightful, sweet, bitter, and that is everything. - Anatole France
