Joanna Dougherty, LCSW (she/her)

I help clients face the challenges of life -- to not only get through them, but to come out the other side thriving. Whether that challenge is a loss, a transition or feeling stuck in a past trauma or experience.

I believe in embracing our humanness and moving away from the "shoulds." I seek to help bring awareness to patterns of coping and to begin to change how we relate to different parts of ourselves.

I enjoy working with women who struggle with perfectionism and vulnerability particularly as sources of anxiety.  I seek to foster our natural wiring for connectedness and encourage facing down our inner critics to uncover ways to rise up and embrace worthiness.

I am trained in EMDR therapy. This incredibly powerful and evidence-based approach is very effective in helping heal trauma or emotional and psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, attachment disorders and other issues.

In addition to EMDR, I have training in Internal Family Systems, Developmental Relational Trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Based Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, The Nurtured Heart Approach and Mindfulness.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Colorado and am a graduate of Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Service and Social Policy.

I also supervise social workers toward their LCSW and other clinicians who are looking to grow and expand their practice.

The truth is that life is delicious, horrible, charming, frightful, sweet, bitter, and that is everything. - Anatole France
